The American journalist working for the UK's Sunday Times, Marie Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik have been killed in the Syrian city of Homs.
A makeshift media center where the two were staying in the Baba Amr district was hit by a shell - Reports say 25 others were also killed as opposition forces continue to fight off President Bashar al Assad's armed supporters. Global media has expressed shock at the news, and world leaders have joined in calls for the Syrian regime to cease violence against its people.

Half of the polling stations in the capital city of Aden were closed early, as a series of attacks were carried out during Yemen's vote for a new president.
Yemeni human rights activist Tawakkol Karman, joint winner of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, said the vote is a step toward a democratic Yemen.
